Darynn Dean, 21 years old, is a Senior at the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston Massachusetts. Darynn is an outstanding performer and a true rising star. In 2012, while attending Mira Costa High School, she immersed herself in music and began singing with the Jazz America Youth Big Band, Multi-Cultural Choir, and the Advanced Woman’s Chorale. That same year she won a Bronze medal in the National NAACP ACT-SO competition, placed first in the Charles Dolo Coker Foundation, and was awarded the Roderick D. Jones Scholarship.
In 2014 and 2015 she was selected as a member of the GRAMMY Foundation jazz choir where she performed with Delfeayo Marsalis, Dave Koz, Hubert Laws, and Aaron Parks at the official GRAMMY week events. Shortly thereafter she was awarded the gold medal prize for the National Young Arts competition where she performed at the New World Center in Miami Florida. Winner of the 2015 Los Angeles Spotlight Awards, she received the Grand Prize and wowed the audience on the stage of Walt Disney Concert Hall. During her first semester in college, she was asked to sing at Jordan Hall for NEC’s “Too Marvelous for Words” Frank Sinatra Tribute. Darynn debuted that year at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C for the Conservatory Presents Concert Series, where she once again amazed the audience with her command of the stage and vocal styling.
As proof that her hard work pays off, Darynn has an impressive list of notable achievements within the last year, including performing again at Jordan Hall as featured vocalist in the NEC Jazz Orchestra “The Music of Leanoard Bernstiein” concert.
As graduation approaches Darynn is looking forward recording her first CD, touring the world, and bring her own message to the world through music.
